Hematocrit - normal Normal range for hematocrit is between 42 and 54%; the value of 47% in this means that in this blood sample, 47% of it is made of RBCs

Hematocrit - low  Low hematocrit : below 35%; can be due to anemia, severe bleeding, nutritional deficiency, bone marrow problems, sickle cell anemia

High hematocrit High hematocrit: 60% or above; can be due to living at high altitudes, dehydration, lung and bone marrow, polycythemia, abuse of erythropoeitin by atheletes
